Non Violent Resistance (NVR) x8 Sessions
This is a booking for 8 sessions of Non Violent Resistance (NVR).
Once you have paid for the bookings, we will contact you to arrange a suitable date and time to attend.
Description
Non Violent Resistance (NVR) is a psychological approach for overcoming destructive, aggressive, controlling and risk-taking behaviour. It was originally developed to address serious behaviour problems in young people. NVR seeks to bring about changes in the parent-child relationship such that there is a reduction in violent or destructive behaviours.
Whilst there may be specific goals, the approach can also bring about change at a deeper level, for example, a shift in the child or young person’s inner world such that beliefs about the acceptability of violence begin to change. Other changes might be the young person feeling more able to compromise and finding that, due to the persistent non-violent stance of his or her parents, reacting violently or oppressively towards family members becomes literally impossible. Change is also sought for parents or carers – reduced isolation, the development of greater confidence, and an improvement in the ability to connect with empathic feelings for their child.
